Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen loved playing rough athletic games in her youth and she excelled at sports. Her passion was coupled with a natural talent for performance. She took home almost all Feis Award in the field of Drama and Theater Performance the country could give. She was accepted at the Abbey Theater by age 14, where she continued to pursue her passion for performing in classical and opera. Charles Laughton became captivated with Maureen's hauntingly gorgeous eyes after seeing a screen test. Prior to casting her for the role in Jamaica Inn (1939), Laughton along with his co-star, Erich Pommer, changed her name to Maureen FitzSimons to "Maureen O'Hara" - - a shorter last name for the marquee. Maureen was on contract with Laughton to shoot her next movie in America with RKO Pictures (The Hunchback of Notre Notre Dame, 1939). The epic film became a massive success and her contract was transferred off Laughton by RKO. Maureen was just 19 when she made her debut with Laughton in two films.
